Topic

Web Clipper.

When to use

When you need to clip webpages, articles, or URLs, take advantage of Evernote’s Web Clipper.

Instructions

To download the Web Clipper, go to Evernote’s main site, hit “Products,” select Web Clipper from the list.  Evernote will ask you to confirm which browser you’re using.  And walk you through the rest of the steps.

Make sure to also download the Web Clipper extension for your browser.  This way you’ll be able to clip anything from the web and immediately have it saved to your Evernote account.

A great advantage of using a Web Clipper browser extension is that it remembers your preferences--whether you prefer to clip:

  • Article
  • Simplified article
  • Selection
  • Full page
  • Bookmark
  • Screenshot

It also allows you to:

  • Add the note you are about to create into a specific notebook
  • Tag it in a specific way
  • Or add a remark

As with all of your Notes, your web clips are super searchable—meaning Evernote will even scan your clipped web images for text. The URL associated with the clip will also be automatically embedded in your note, so if you are doing a research project, for example, you’ll always be able to go back to the original source to add the proper citation.

  • 00:04 You've heard me talk about the fact that it's very easy to clip web pages,
  • 00:09 articles, and URLs, and send them to Evernote.
  • 00:12 How do you do that?
  • 00:14 By using Web Clipper.
  • 00:15 This is the magical tool that allows you to clip anything from the web and
  • 00:20 send it immediately to Evernote.
  • 00:23 So, in this lesson, we are going to look at the Web Clipper.
  • 00:28 If you don't have it yet, go to evernote.com,
  • 00:32 products, and find Web Clipper on the products list.
  • 00:37 Then, download it, and
  • 00:39 follow the step-by-step that Evernote will suggest to you.
  • 00:44 It will take you just a few seconds.
  • 00:46 One of the things that you will do, as you install your Web Clipper,
  • 00:51 is that you will also download the Web Clipper extension for your browser.
  • 00:55 This is this magical tool that will allow you to clip
  • 01:01 any part of that page that you've selected.
  • 01:04 Here, you have a few choices.
  • 01:06 You can go with simplified article, entire article, entire page.
  • 01:11 Just bookmark the URL,
  • 01:16 take a screenshot, so here you can make your selection.
  • 01:20 But what's even better is that
  • 01:25 the note that will be created once you've made your selection and
  • 01:30 clipped this article or page, you can organize it.
  • 01:35 You can select the notebook where you want to save that note to,
  • 01:41 add a tag, and even add a remark.
  • 01:44 So, this will allow you to not just clip something, but
  • 01:49 also, make comments and make sure that it will be added to your Evernote,
  • 01:56 to your proper notebook, and with the tag that it needs to have.
