When to use
Skitch is an amazing tool to grab and annotate images and send them into Evernote. It’s very handy to give instructions, draw attention to something, or save an image as an idea or inspiration.
Instructions
To download Skitch, go to Evernote’s main site, hit “Products,” and select Skitch from the list. Evernote will ask you to confirm which browser you’re using. And walk you through the rest of the steps.
Skitch allows you to:
- Grab screenshots of entire pages or specified parts of pages
- Annotate images--use arrows to draw attention to specific parts of the image or grey out parts that you don’t want to show: Snap a new image by tapping the camera icon once you launch Skitch, or choose an existing image to edit by tapping the photo image on the home screen or in Evernote. From there, you can resize images by pinching in and out.
- Add an explanation--use items like the pencil, arrow, finger and text icons. Select your color by tapping the color circle in the lower left-hand corner of the app.
- Snap images--Skitch has a camera feature, so you can use it to take actual photos.
By default, your Skitch images are saved in Evernote. If you go to Skitch > Preferences, you can specify:
- If you want to save your Skitch images into Evernote automatically or manually.
- The Notebook where your images should be saved.
- How often you want your Skitch to sync with Evernote.
- 00:04 In this lesson, we are going to talk about Skitch.
- 00:07 Skitch is a fun tool to grab and annotate images and send them directly to Evernote.
- 00:14 If you don't have Skitch yet, simply go to evernote.com.
- 00:19 Scroll all the way down and then go to products.
- 00:23 From here select Skitch from the list of products and download it.
- 00:28 It will take just a few seconds for you to set it up.
- 00:33 But once you are done you will be able to grab screenshots anytime you want,
- 00:38 and it's just as easy as that.
- 00:42 Once you've taken the snapshot, the fun begins.
- 00:45 Now you can annotate your image and you can leave messages for somebody.
- 00:55 You can point at things that you want to highlight.
- 01:03 You can highlight something this way.
- 01:10 You can gray out things that you don't want to show.
- 01:15 So you can see that Skitch is a tool
- 01:19 that allows you to play with your images and it is super fun.
- 01:24 But, what it is useful for is when you need to give instructions.
- 01:29 And when you want to send an image to somebody and
- 01:33 either draw their attention to something, if you want to save an image or
- 01:38 idea for yourself, and need to make a comment of why it grabbed your
- 01:43 attention in the first place or how you can use it later.
- 01:47 So Skitch can have so many different applications.
- 01:50 But what you might want to take a look at once you've downloaded it is that you can
- 01:57 specify how you want to save your images into Evernote.
- 02:04 Whether you want to send them or save them always and automatically,
- 02:09 whether you want to do it manually, screenshot by screenshot.
- 02:13 You can also specify in which notebook the images will be sent to you and
- 02:19 how often you want your Skitch to sink with Evernote.
- 02:23 So all over that you will be able to manage in preferences.
- 02:27 But other than that all you will need to do is just a few seconds to
- 02:32 download your Skitch and then use it as your heart desires because it
- 02:37 is a very fun tool that allows you to grab screenshots very quickly.
- 02:43 And once you've done that just go back to your Evernote,
- 02:47 grab the link to that screenshot.
- 02:49 And either share it with somebody or store it in Evernote for future use.
