1. Do you have to choose between Tags and Notebooks when deciding how to organize your Evernote?
Yes, you’ve got to pick one.
You don’t have to choose between Notebooks and Tags to organize your Evernote. However, to make it easier for yourself to maintain your Evernote, pick one primary method.
It’s best to choose between the two.
2. What’s one limitation if you organize Evernote using Notebooks?
The main limitation is that with Stacks and Notebooks you can go only one level deep (i.e., you cannot create Stacks inside Stacks).
There is no limitation. You can organize Evernote using Notebooks in the same exact way one can organize Dropbox, GoogleDrive, or My Documents folder on your computer.
That in Evernote folders are called Stacks and subfolders--Notebook.
3. Since you can’t put the same Note into more than one Notebooks, is the only way to reference information in different Notebooks is to duplicate Notes?
You can reference the title of the Note you want to reference in another Note to quickly search for it when needed.
No. To reference information you can simply cross-reference Notes by pasting one Note link in another Note. To do that, right-click the Note and select Copy Note Link from the dropdown menu.
Unfortunately, there is no other way. You’ll have to duplicate your Notes if you want the information to appear in more Notebook than one.
