1. The project selection process is meant to select the “right” project. What should it be doing with the “wrong” project?
Assign the project to a different project team.
Place the project on hold.
2. When a project is approved with an informal approval process rather than a formal one, how are the resources identified/assigned?
The stakeholder meets with other stakeholders to assign resources.
Normally the project leader must recruit them.
Management places the project into the portfolio and prioritizes the project needs against other projects.
3. What does it mean to use portfolio pipeline management as a project selection criterion?
Project pipelines are a way of showing a project milestone schedule. Pipeline management is when the stakeholders manage the project using the pipeline schedule.
The project is selected to be implemented following the other projects in the pipeline.
Ensure the project milestones do not conflict with milestones of other approved projects and that the project resources will not conflict with resource requirements on other approved projects.
