1. What is scope creep?
Any change to project scope after the Project Charter has been approved.
The uncontrolled expansion to project scope without adjustment to time, cost, or resources.
The correction of errors in the project plan that requires scope activities to be added or duplicated.
2. Why does scope creep cause a delay on a project?
The project resources are doing the scope creep work and not the originally planned work, causing the originally planned tasks to be delayed.
Scope creep causes task estimates to increase.
Project work is postponed until the magnitude of scope creep is defined.
3. When team members initiate scope creep, why do they normally do it?
The team member responds to an informal request from a stakeholder.
The team member starts to do unauthorized activity because they think it will make the project result better.
Team members cannot initiate scope creep, it can only be initiated by customers or stakeholders.
4. At the end of the project, what should the Project Leader do with the Scope Creep Parking Lot?
The Scope Creep Parking Lot is documented for the Lessons Learned session on the project as risks that other teams should avoid.
Turn it over to the business operation responsible for managing the project result or managing the next project for their consideration in future planning.
The project leader turns the parking passes into HR so the parking slots can be issued to members of the next project team.
