Learn how to craft an effective sales letter in the professional environment.
When to use
To follow up on leads or communicate with prospects via postal mail or email.
Typical purposes for a sales letter:
- Follow up.
- In Response to a request
- When when you are in close contact
- For a segmented list of subscribers
Formatting and Content
- Personalize. You want to avoid the look and sound of a form letter.
- Provide Benefits. Think of telling the letter recipient what they get when they do business with your company.
- Present an Opportunity. Present your information as a chance for your customer to benefit.
- Plan the Next Step when appropriate—an appointment, follow up call, etc.
- Regarding a P.S. It’s optional. If you do use it, make it helpful by offering someting of value, not something cheesy or obvious.
- Finally, Polish your letter, and Proofread it.
