1. How do you tell if a headline is a text box or a picture?
Click the headline and observe which ribbons appear above the work area. It will be either Text Box or Picture, but not both.
Click the headline and try to type into it. If you can type, it is a text box; if not, it is a picture.
Text is always a text box.
2. The video showed one long black bar with text at both ends. How did they do this?
They made two black text boxes and placed them side-by-side.
They have professionals who know all the tricks.
I have no idea.
3. How do you find pre-made newsletters in Publisher?
The “File Ribbon, New” has many pre-made publications available and free for your personal or business use.
Search online for templates for Publisher 2016.
Ask someone in the office to find one for you.
