1. How do you tell if a headline is a text box or a picture?
Click the headline and try to type into it. If you can type, it is a text box; if not, it is a picture.
Text is always a text box.
Click the headline and observe which ribbons appear above the work area. It will be either Text Box or Picture, but not both.
2. The video showed one long black bar with text at both ends. How did they do this?
They have professionals who know all the tricks.
I have no idea.
They made two black text boxes and placed them side-by-side.
3. How do you find pre-made newsletters in Publisher?
Ask someone in the office to find one for you.
