Work Breakdown Structure.
2. What does the length of a task bar on a Gantt Chart represent?
The start date of the task.
The duration of the task.
The level of technical risk within the task.
3. What does the color of the bar on a Gantt Chart represent?
The bar colors on a Gantt Chart can represent whatever the project team or management decides to have them represent.
Blue is a standard task, red is a critical path task, yellow is a late task.
All tasks on a Gantt Chart are represented by black bars. If colors are used, it is not a Gantt Chart.
4. When your task duration estimates have a high degree of uncertainty, how should you show the task duration on a Gantt Chart?
Use the best case task estimate.
Only show summary level tasks, that way the duration uncertainty can be buried in the summary task.
You should not use a Gantt Chart when there is a high degree of estimate uncertainty.
