1. What is the purpose of a project technical review?
To select the project approach from among possible technical options.
Ensure the technical activities and deliverables meet the project technical requirements.
Ensure the project is on schedule and on budget.
2. Who should be members of the review panel for a technical review?
Senior management and the project sponsor.
Subject matter experts in the technical disciplines being reviewed.
The technical members of the Core Team review each others work.
3. If your project is developing a large complex technical system with many detailed deliverables, how should you organize a technical review to make good use of the reviewer’s time?
Create a detailed agenda, dry run all presentations, limiting the slides as necessary to fit the agenda, and hold questions until the end of all presentations. Then reviewers only need to stay if they have questions.
Break the review into subgroups focused on categories of technology or deliverables.
Summarize the technical results and only review open technical risks in detail.
