1. When a team changes its mission or goals, what often happens to team membership?
A change in goals should not affect team membership.
Some team members leave and other are added.
There is no change in membership, but the team leader often changes.
2. What actions are appropriate for a team member who leaves the team because they are leaving the company for another job?
Do not acknowledge their departure. They have let the team down by not showing loyalty to the team.
Be sure to protect any company assets or access to company systems when they leave, but don’t “burn any bridges” because they may return.
Celebrate with them for the contribution they provided.
3. What is the role of a team “assimilation buddy?”
The assimilation buddy helps a new team member understand the way the team operates and coaches the new team member as they join the team.
Assimilation buddies are two team members who are very different from each other and who try to help the other person value their differences.
The assimilation buddy is an individual from HR who manages the hiring process and helps the new person get signed up for corporate benefits.
