Why would you want to change the hue and saturation of an image to represent night?
Because our eyes adjust to the streetlights .
Because Adjustment Layers need color information to work.
Because lower levels of light reflect less vibrant colors.
What is a quick way to make the sky in this image transparent (while leaving the clouds and leaves in place)?
Create a Masking Layer and paint in the transparent sections.
Use the Blend If function, set to affect only blue colors.
Use the quick selection tool.
To quickly fill a selection with the foreground color you can:
Hold down the Command or Control key and press delete.
Create a shape in a new layer and clip it to the selection layer.
Use the fill tool.
