1. Before you can ‘free transform’ an image you must:
Select ‘free transform’ from the ‘edit’ drop-down menu.
Make sure it is in its own layer, and not the background.
Select the whole image.
2. After rotating an image, why would you normally need to crop it?
To make the borders match up with the lines of the image.
To change the center of the picture.
To clear the image of its' askew outside border.
3. The Ruler Tool’s ‘straighten’ command will automatically:
Deform the image to make curvy lines go away.
Rotate the Image.
Rotate and crop the image, even if it's a background layer.
