Setting Up A Cloud Development Environment
In this course we'll use the Cloud 9 development environment from c9.io
When to use
Anytime you want to write code, you should use a cloud development environment.
Head over to https://codemy.com/c9
to sign up for Cloud 9 under my "education" account. I'll send you an email invite.
Once you have your account, you need to create your new workspace with the HTML5 template.
You can change the preferences on your workspace by going to the gear in the top right hand corner and selecting themes.
Your workspace will include a README file. You can right click and delete this file if you would like. There is also a hello-world file that you can review.
The development environment can be accessed from any computer and from anywhere as long as you have internet access.
Hints & tips
- We'll use C9.io as our cloud development environment
- C9.io is totally free
- Since Amazon integrated Cloud 9 into AWS, no new accounts can be created on C9.io but you can still sign up through my education account
