The communication channels determine the target audience: i.e. if you want to distribute your press release through the written press, then your target audience is likely to be 40+ people.
Even though some communication channels are not suitable to the publication of press releases, they might still be used to reach the target audience in an emergency crisis.
The target audience determines the communication channels: i.e. if your audience is young, you might choose social media as your main distribution channel.

You should identify suitable forums during a crisis so as to be able to access a community of people who are more likely to be interested or affected by your news.

You can post the title of your press release with a link to where it is published online.
You could send a message to all your followers.
You can create a press release tab on Facebook and post your press release there.
