Master Your Beliefs, Attitude and Emotions – Mind Hack

In order to be successful in sales, you have to master your attitude, beliefs and emotions.  Hack your mind to change some of your disempowering habits.  

When to use

You can do a mind hack to change negative thoughts or disempowering habits at any time of the day, for example after you have a bad sales call.

Instructions

To master your attitude, beliefs and emotions you also need to do a Mind Hack. Over years and years and years you have developed some habits.  Some of those habits are empowering and some are not empowering.  In order to change those habits that are disempowering you have to hack your mind.

You can hack your mind using some of these strategies:

  • NLP – Neuro Linguistic Programming
    • It is a way to get into your brain and your subconscious to change how you feel and behave.
    • There are NLP practitioners and coaches that can help you change your mind.
  • You can do the following exercise to hack your mind if you feel frustrated, sad or disappointed as a result of a bad sales call or experience:
    • RECALL a time when you felt happy, a positive feeling.
  • VISUALIZE that happy time.  What did you see?  What did you hear?  Put yourself back in that position.
  • AFFIRMATION (WITH INTENSE EMOTION) – Affirm your emotions with positive language.  Things like, “I’ve got this!”  Language is huge in hacking your brain.  If you talk negative, it will make you start to feel negative.  Always use positive language to hack your mind.

  • 00:19 Next, we're going to do a mind hack.
  • 00:22 And this is what I love.
  • 00:23 This is so much fun because over years and years, and years,
  • 00:27 have you developed some habits?
  • 00:30 Absolutely.
  • 00:31 Have you developed some habits that are empowering?
  • 00:35 I hope so.
  • 00:36 Have you developed some habits that are disempowering?
  • 00:39 Probably.
  • 00:41 So the way to change those disempowering habits and build new habits, so
  • 00:45 we have to get into our mind and hack our mind, okay?
  • 00:48 So there's lots of different ways to do it.
  • 00:50 One of my favorite ways is called NLP.
  • 00:53 Neuro-Linguistic Programming.
  • 00:56 What is that?
  • 00:57 It's a way to get in your brains and our subconscious and change our behavior.
  • 01:03 Because we wanna change anything about our self,
  • 01:05 we either wanna change how we feel or how we behave.
  • 01:09 Isn't that true?
  • 01:11 So neuro-linguistic programming,
  • 01:13 there's lots of books on it, there's lots of stuff online.
  • 01:16 There's lots of people who, NLP practitioners, we call them, and
  • 01:20 they can help you get in there, coaches that know NLP to change your mind.
  • 01:25 So I'll give you an example.
  • 01:26 So let's do a little, let's do an exercise, you wanna play a little bit?
  • 01:31 Okay, great.
  • 01:32 This is going to help.
  • 01:34 Think of an emotion that you wanna feel.
  • 01:37 In fact, let's just call it excitement, okay?
  • 01:40 Think of a time that you were excited.
  • 01:43 Go ahead, you can even close your eyes and think of a time you were excited.
  • 01:46 What did you see?
  • 01:48 What did you hear?
  • 01:50 What did you feel?
  • 01:51 Were there other people around?
  • 01:53 And really put yourself back into that state.
  • 01:56 Put yourself back to that moment.
  • 02:00 Yeah, and now take that image and make it brighter.
  • 02:04 Take that image and put color in it, make it pop.
  • 02:07 Put some motion into it.
  • 02:10 Really feel that excitement just as you did in that place.
  • 02:13 Are you smiling?
  • 02:14 I see you smiling right now.
  • 02:16 Feel that excitement and really visualize what that excitement is.
  • 02:21 What's going on around you.
  • 02:24 Excellent, excellent.
  • 02:25 Now, open your eyes.
  • 02:27 How do you feel?
  • 02:29 You probably feel pretty excited, pretty good, happy, positive.
  • 02:34 And how long did that take by the way?
  • 02:37 Just a few moments.
  • 02:39 And you can do this everyday.
  • 02:41 If you get off of a sales call that wasn't so great, and you just hang up.
  • 02:47 Go into this little exercise.
  • 02:48 Recall a time when you felt the opposite of frustration,
  • 02:51 the opposite of sadness, the opposite of anger, right?
  • 02:55 I wanna feel happy right now, great go to a place, take a deep breath.
  • 03:00 Recall a time when you felt happy and go back there.
  • 03:05 Visualize it.
  • 03:05 What was around?
  • 03:06 Make that bigger, right?
  • 03:07 Because a lot of times what happens is when something bad happens, like
  • 03:11 a bad sales call, we hang up the phone and we amplify that in our head, don't we?
  • 03:17 And all the negative emotions and that just makes us feel horrible.
  • 03:20 That's not going to help you make more sales.
  • 03:24 Make sense?
  • 03:25 Good, so you've gotta flip that switch.
  • 03:27 So, how do you do it?
  • 03:28 Neuro-linguistic programming is great way.
  • 03:31 You can do some research on it.
  • 03:32 So the first thing you do is recall.
  • 03:34 Recall a situation where you felt the emotion that you wanna feel,
  • 03:39 a positive empowering emotion, okay?
  • 03:42 Number two, visualize that emotion and use all your senses.
  • 03:46 What did you see?
  • 03:47 What did you hear, right?
  • 03:48 What did you feel?
  • 03:50 What did you smell, okay?
  • 03:52 And really put yourself back into that position.
  • 03:55 And next, affirmation.
  • 03:57 Okay, this is great.
  • 03:59 So when you're feeling happy, when you're feeling excited,
  • 04:02 what do you say out loud or in your head?
  • 04:04 Do you say, I got this?
  • 04:07 I'm the man or I'm the woman.
  • 04:10 This is amazing.
  • 04:11 This is awesome.
  • 04:12 I love this.
  • 04:13 I'm having fun.
  • 04:15 What do you say?
  • 04:16 Because language is huge in hacking your brain, okay?
  • 04:20 Because if I was to say to somebody, wow, you know what?
  • 04:27 I really hate this.
  • 04:29 I hate this food, this food is disgusting, it's nasty.
  • 04:32 I can feel myself start to feel that emotion, could I?
  • 04:36 And it's very different if I say, gosh, you know what?
  • 04:39 That meal just didn't do it for me.
  • 04:44 Much less intense.
  • 04:46 Or you can go the other way.
  • 04:47 Wow, that meal was awesome, that meal was so good.
  • 04:51 That was the best meal I've ever had.
  • 04:53 Or you might say, that meal was okay, it was all right.
  • 04:59 There's a huge range of emotion.
  • 05:01 And the words we use and the intensity in which we say those words
  • 05:06 will control how we feel, does that make sense?
  • 05:10 So say something that's affirming, right?
  • 05:13 And put your emotion into it.
  • 05:15 If you wanna feel excited, excited to make that phone call,
  • 05:18 excited to go in that presentation.
  • 05:20 Do your recall?
  • 05:21 Recall a time when you felt excited.
  • 05:24 Visualized that excitement.
  • 05:26 Make it big and bright.
  • 05:27 And say the things out loud with emotion like, this is awesome.
  • 05:31 I got this.
  • 05:32 This feels fun.
  • 05:34 Whatever it is you say, say it out loud.
  • 05:36 And you can do this in your car by yourself.
  • 05:39 You can do it in your room by yourself, wherever you need to be.
  • 05:43 If somebody sees you, that's okay.
  • 05:45 Just wave at them.
  • 05:46 You'll give them some entertainment, okay?
  • 05:48 But these things work.
  • 05:50 This is what the top athletes, entertainers and
  • 05:53 CEOs are doing to take control of their mindset.
  • 05:56 Make sense?
  • 05:59 Good, practice it.
  • 06:00 Do it over, and over, and over, and play with it.
  • 06:03 Don't take my word for it, do it.
  • 06:05 See how it feels.
  • 06:06 Because this is the foundation that's gonna help you explode your sales.
