Sales success starts with your attitude.  Understand how to master your attitude for success in sales.

When to use

Anytime you are selling to a customer, you have to master your attitude.  Always have a positive attitude, understand your identity and know the emotions you want to feel when you are talking with customers.

Instructions

In order to master your attitude, you need the following things:

  • Positive Attitude
    • Your attitude plays a big difference in your sale.  If you have a negative attitude, that sale isn’t going to go well. 
    • Always start with a positive attitude.  There are a lot of things you can do to have a positive attitude.  Start your day off by meditating or going to the gym to get your body moving.  Have gratitude by being grateful for the things in life.  When you are driving to work play upbeat and fun music.
  • Understand your Identity
    • Who do you have to be in order to be successful in your workplace?
    • Who do you have to be in order to be an outstanding sales person, to influence that customer to do business with you?
  • Emotions and States of Being
    • You need to think about what emotions you need to feel to be successful.
    • What emotions do you want to feel when you come into the office or when you are talking with a client?
    • Get very clear with what you want to feel and get connected with that emotion.

When someone buys your product it is because of a feeling that they want to experience.  As a sales person, if you can get down to that emotion that the customer wants to feel from buying your product, that is gold.

  • 00:10 So we talked a lot about beliefs, and next you have to master your attitude.
  • 00:16 Your attitude.
  • 00:18 What does that have to do with anything?
  • 00:20 Well, think about it.
  • 00:21 Let's say you wake up in the morning, and you stub your toe out of bed,
  • 00:24 and your car doesn't start, you have to walk to work,
  • 00:27 and things just aren't working, your internet's down.
  • 00:30 How are you gonna feel by the time you get to work?
  • 00:34 How are you gonna feel when you meet with that first client?
  • 00:37 Or you pick up that first phone call?
  • 00:40 Not so great.
  • 00:42 So your attitude plays a big difference.
  • 00:45 Because if you have a negative attitude, how's that sale most likely gonna go?
  • 00:50 How's that cold call gonna go for you?
  • 00:53 Not as good, right?
  • 00:54 So you need to start with a positive attitude.
  • 00:58 Now, there's a lot of things that you can do to have a positive attitude.
  • 01:01 In the morning when I wake up, I do some meditation, I'll go to the gym,
  • 01:05 I'll get my body moving.
  • 01:06 I'm doing something now called cryotherapy, which is absolutely amazing.
  • 01:10 I get in this machine that goes down to negative 260 degrees and
  • 01:16 jolts my body and wakes me up.
  • 01:18 It's absolutely amazing, okay.
  • 01:20 So, there's lots of things you can do to help you have a positive
  • 01:23 attitude in the morning.
  • 01:24 Gratitude is great.
  • 01:26 People, when they wake up, and I do this as well, when you're grateful for
  • 01:29 everything that you have, It puts you instantly in a great mood.
  • 01:33 You could be thankful for your family, your friends, the job,
  • 01:37 the clients that your gonna meet, for the company that you have, anything right?
  • 01:41 Just starting with gratitude, that's gonna help your positive attitude.
  • 01:45 Other things you can do.
  • 01:46 When your driving, positive music, music that's upbeat.
  • 01:51 It literally, music goes right to your nervous system, and
  • 01:55 can instantly control how you feel.
  • 01:58 It can change your mood in an instant.
  • 02:00 Have you ever been driving along,
  • 02:02 and maybe you're thinking about an ex-boyfriend or girlfriend, or, and
  • 02:07 the song comes on and takes you right back to that moment, right?
  • 02:10 And before you know it you feel it.
  • 02:12 You might even have a tear running down your eye.
  • 02:15 It goes right into your nervous system.
  • 02:16 Now the opposite's true, isn't it?
  • 02:18 When you put in piece of positive music, something that's upbeat,
  • 02:21 something that's fun, something you love, you'll start singing in your car.
  • 02:25 You might even start dancing around if nobody's looking.
  • 02:28 Yeah, music's a great way to shift your attitude and
  • 02:32 make sure you've got a positive attitude.
  • 02:34 Make sense?
  • 02:35 Good.
  • 02:36 Next, your identity.
  • 02:39 Who are you?
  • 02:40 So who do you have to be when you show up on that sales call,
  • 02:46 or to the office, or on that phone call to be an outstanding sales person?
  • 02:51 Who do you have to be to influence the person on the other end of that call
  • 02:56 to do business with you?
  • 02:59 You need to have an identity as a rockstar sales person, as that superstar, as that
  • 03:04 person who's here to serve if that's what you're, if that's what resonates with you.
  • 03:08 Whatever resonates with you, ask yourself, who do I have to show up as?
  • 03:14 Is it a superhero?
  • 03:14 Is it an actor, is it an entertainer?
  • 03:17 Somebody that you resonate with, that you wanna show up like, okay?
  • 03:23 So really think about that.
  • 03:24 And then number three, the emotions, or states of being.
  • 03:28 Now, this one's, again,
  • 03:29 it goes back to kinda like when we were talking about attitude, right?
  • 03:33 You need to think about who you want to show up as, and
  • 03:37 what emotions that person's gonna feel.
  • 03:40 So here's an example.
  • 03:42 If I was to ask you, I have a little genie here and
  • 03:45 I can rub this genie, and rub the, what do you call that thing?
  • 03:49 The pot, right, and the genie comes out.
  • 03:52 And has three wishes.
  • 03:53 What is the first wish that you want, what would you wish for?
  • 03:58 A lot of people would say more money.
  • 03:59 Or I'd wish for health, or I'd wish for new car, or a new house, okay.
  • 04:05 So, let's say, you say I wanna million dollars.
  • 04:07 Great, now, if you really want a million dollars,
  • 04:12 do you want a million pieces of paper with dead presidents on it?
  • 04:16 No, you want what the million dollars is going to bring you.
  • 04:21 Okay, so it's gonna bring you love, or make you
  • 04:25 feel significant, or make you feel connected, or make you feel important.
  • 04:31 Okay, so these are all feelings.
  • 04:34 The things that we want, we think they're going to give us a feeling.
  • 04:38 And here's a ninja secret.
  • 04:39 You want the ninja secret?
  • 04:40 When somebody buys your product,
  • 04:43 it's because of a feeling that they wanna experience.
  • 04:48 So as a salesperson, if you can get down to that emotion that they wanna feel from
  • 04:52 buying your product, that is gold!
  • 04:54 And we're gonna talk about how to do that further on in the program, okay?
  • 04:58 So let's focus back on you.
  • 05:00 So what emotions do you wanna feel on a regular basis when you come into
  • 05:04 the office?
  • 05:05 So here are some examples, confidence, do you wanna feel faith?
  • 05:10 Caring, determination, relaxed, brilliant, empathetic.
  • 05:16 You wanna feel like a leader.
  • 05:18 Do you wanna feel successful, unstoppable,
  • 05:21 professional, funny, social, or anything, right?
  • 05:25 What kind of emotion do you wanna feel when you sit down with a client?
  • 05:29 When you pick up that phone call, right?
  • 05:31 When you're giving that presentation.
  • 05:34 Get very clear on that and start connecting yourself to that emotion, okay?
  • 05:39 Cuz we've all felt all these emotions that we
  • 05:42 think something else is going to bring us, but we felt that emotion already.
  • 05:45 So connect with that emotion.
  • 05:47 Does that make sense?
  • 05:49 Okay good.
  • 05:49 Let's recap.
  • 05:51 You have to master your attitude.
  • 05:53 How do you do that?
  • 05:54 By you have to start with positive attitude.
  • 05:56 You can use a morning ritual, like exercise, mediation, gratitude,
  • 06:01 music's great way.
  • 06:03 Get that positive attitude.
  • 06:05 Your identity, who do you have to be in order to be successful in your workplace?
  • 06:11 Okay, and take on that identity.
  • 06:13 And number three, the emotions, or states of being.
  • 06:15 What emotions do you need to feel on a regular basis?
  • 06:19 Okay, cause you can practice and program yourself to feel those emotions, so
  • 06:23 you step into that meeting, to that presentation.
  • 06:26 You jump onto that phone call exactly the way you need to be.
  • 06:30 Okay?
  • 06:31 Good.
