Working with Pages
Quickly move from page-to-page and view pages side-by-side
When to use
When your document grows large, it is a time saver to move through the pages using the tools in MS Word 2013.
Instructions:
Note: It is a good practice to View, Navigation Pane. This allows you to observe the pages on the left panel.
VIEW RIBBON
1.View, One Page: will show one full page in portrait view. The page will shrink to fit the window.
2.View, Multiple Pages: Will display pages side-by-size horizontally, and can be adjusted by shrinking the zoom control setting.
3.View, Page Width: The page will widen to fit the width of the window; only the top portion of the page will be visible until you scroll.
WORD SCREEN TOOLS
1. Zoom Control for Multiple Pages: by shrinking the zoom control, multiple pages can be viewed vertically stacked
2. Scroll Bar: will move the document one screen length at time either up or down.
KEYBOARD TOOLS
1.CTRL HOME will take you to the top of any document
2.CTRL END will take you to the bottom of any document
3.Page UP moves the screen UP one “view length” at a time
4.Page DOWN moves the screen DOWN one “view length” at a time
5.Ctrl Page UP jumps UP by one page
6.Ctrl Page DOWN jumps DOWN by one page
Login to download- 00:05 Hello, in this lesson I wanna show you how to work with pages.
- 00:08 Again, this is an intermediate lesson.
- 00:10 I'm hoping that your Navigation Pane is on.
- 00:12 I do wanna show you a little trick about the Navigation Pane.
- 00:15 If you'll come over here, even if it's on or off,
- 00:17 on the very bottom left of your document screen, mine says Page 2 of 2.
- 00:22 I can just double click that to turn off the Navigation Pane.
- 00:25 I guess just click it once, on or off, on or off.
- 00:28 So that saves you from having to go to View, Navigation Pane.
- 00:31 You don't really have to do that if you just know that little trick right
- 00:34 down here.
- 00:35 So now, let's see, I want to go to the very top of this document.
- 00:40 Obviously mine says Page 2 of 4.
- 00:42 So, if you’ll find on your keyboard, Ctrl+Home.
- 00:45 Ctrl+Home, always sends you to the top of your document and
- 00:48 of course on your Navigation Pane, I can tell that,
- 00:51 yes sure enough I am on the very top of the document.
- 00:53 And I can scroll through the Navigation Pane and
- 00:57 observe that it's numbered 1 through 3.
- 01:00 But technically the cover page is a 0, so I do have technically four pages in there.
- 01:05 Now if I click Page 3, it matches it right over here on
- 01:10 the document screen and it takes me to the very bottom of Page 3.
- 01:14 Now Ctrl+Home will take me to the top and if you'll notice right beside your Home
- 01:19 button, you have an End button, E-n-d, End.
- 01:22 Ctrl+End takes you to the bottom, okay?
- 01:24 Ctrl+End to the bottom, Ctrl+Home to the top or
- 01:27 you can use your Navigation Pane to scroll and then click around the same thing.
- 01:31 And again, this is how we work with pages,
- 01:34 this is this lesson, how to get through your document quickly and find the areas.
- 01:38 All right, I just did a Ctrl+Home.
- 01:40 Now, on your View ribbon, right up on top,
- 01:42 I'm on the View ribbon, we have the Zoom control, I have a Zoom right here.
- 01:47 Now this, when I click that button, again let me show you,
- 01:50 it was this button right here, now I can choose Page width, or Text width, or
- 01:54 Whole page, or I can choose 100% or 200%.
- 01:57 Whatever you choose, nothing applies until I hit OK right here.
- 02:01 So I'll go ahead and hit OK, and now it's zoomed in, actually to 25%.
- 02:06 So, not sure what I clicked it finally.
- 02:09 Now, if you'll look right down here on the bottom right hand corner,
- 02:12 I have a plus sign by 25%.
- 02:13 I can hit plus, plus, plus, or minus, minus, minus, and
- 02:15 it's giving me the measurement right there.
- 02:18 My preferred way is the wheel on my mouse.
- 02:21 When I hold control and
- 02:23 wheel up or wheel down, that is the fastest way to Zoom control.
- 02:28 What else you need, right here in the Zoom control, is One Page, Multiple Page, or
- 02:31 Page Width.
- 02:32 Watch this, I love these buttons.
- 02:35 So when I click One Page, it just shows me a single page.
- 02:39 Multiple pages, it will arrange what it feels like showing you on this screen,
- 02:43 it can fit three pages at a time.
- 02:45 If I scroll down I can see the fourth page.
- 02:47 Now, if I don't like that, I can just zoom up a little bit,
- 02:50 I can use the plus sign down here at the bottom.
- 02:53 Or I can control wheel up to zoom in a little more, all right?
- 02:57 So, please remember, when I click Multiple Pages again,
- 03:00 it's going to decide for me that I can see three on the screen, that's fine.
- 03:05 I'll have to zoom to Page Width.
- 03:07 So wherever my insertion point is, I'll click on the second page.
- 03:10 When I hit Page Width, that is the page that I will see on my screen, see?
- 03:14 It decides, based on the location of the insertion point,
- 03:18 how many pages I can save.
- 03:20 All right, one more button I want to show you and it's actually on your keyboard.
- 03:23 It's the PgUp, PgDn button.
- 03:25 Now, if you'll notice this little Scroll box in the Scroll bar right over here,
- 03:29 when I tap PgUp it's going to move this just a little bit up.
- 03:32 It's called PgUp for one screen width, see it just moved.
- 03:35 Now, I'll move my mouse above it, hit PgUp again.
- 03:38 It's just moving a screen width at a time.
- 03:41 But now watch what happens when I hit Ctrl+PgUp, it goes to the top.
- 03:45 And PgDn will move me a screen width at a time, but
- 03:48 Ctrl+PgDn moves me an entire page.
- 03:51 And you can even see the Navigation Pane happening over on the left hand side,
- 03:54 that's falling there as well.
- 03:56 So basically the moral of the story is it is your personal preference
- 04:00 how you move through and see your screen.
- 04:02 We have the Navigation Pane.
- 04:04 We have the Scroll through with the Scroll bar.
- 04:07 We have the buttons up here for the multiple pages.
- 04:10 Or we have the Ctrl+PgUp, PgDn, Ctrl+Home, Ctrl+End.
- 04:14 It is all your personal preference, but you are ultimately in control of how you
- 04:19 get through and see your pages very quickly.
- 04:21 All right, thank you.
