The scenario

Anna and her dad operate a fruit stall in the market, and her dad wants the answer to the following questions:

  • Which fruit makes the most money?
  • Which region buys the most apples?
  • Are we doing better than last month?

Fresh out of Excel training, Anna knows the answers are right at her fingertips.

The challenge

Your task is to help Anna build an Excel-based solution that answers her dad’s questions using conditional summing functions.

The data

Anna has already structured the data with the following columns:

  • Selling Date
  • Fruits Name (e.g., Apple, Banana, Kiwi)
  • Units Sold, kg
  • Unit Price $/kg
  • Sold, $ (Units Sold, kg × Unit Price, $/kg)

What Anna needs to build

Anna wants to find out the following:

  1. Total Sales Volume (kg)
  2. Peach Sales Volume (kg)
  3. Sum of sales of all types of Apples ($)
  4. Sales Volume in kg for:
  • pineapples
  • mangoes
  • grapes
  1. Sales Volume in kg for:
  • peaches until June 17, 2025
  • all bananas for the period June 17 to June 30, 2025
  1. Total sales from June 16, 2025 onward
