Pivot Tables

Pivot tables allow you to extract information and significance from massive sets of data within Excel. Although operating within them can be difficult, using these shortcuts to navigate within them and control data points can turn even novices in pivot table aficionados.

Select entire pivot table As you work on a pivot table, this shortcut can be used to gain control of and select the entire table. Ctrl A A
Toggle pivot table checkbox Pivot tables often include checkbox features that add/remove fields from the table itself. This shortcut can be used to save time and quickly toggle various checkboxes from on to off and vice versa. Space Space
Group pivot table items Just as you can do with cells, rows and columns, this shortcut allows you to group selected items with your pivot tables. You can do so by certain dates if you are working over a period of time, or simply but selected numbered within the table. Alt Shift Shift K
Ungroup pivot table items Undo any groupings you may have made within your pivot table. Alt Shift Shift J
Add pivot chart to current worksheet With a pivot table open, use the shortcut to embed a pivot chart within the same spreadsheet you already have open. This is available on PC’s only. Alt F1
Add pivot chart to new worksheet With a pivot table open, use the shortcut to embed a pivot chart on a new spreadsheet that Excel with create for you. F11 Fn F11
Hide item from pivot table Hide an item out of your pivot table with ease. Note that this shortcut is the same as filtering a selected field. Ctrl - Ctrl -
Launch pivot table wizard Excel offers an excellent pivot table help agent that aids you in your creation and editing of pivot tables. Frankly, this is no longer available on Mac 2016 Excel applications. Alt D P Option P
